Editor Command
Summary
The EDIT program recognizes 25 editor commands. These editor
commands are summarized in Table 4-2.

ADD
Enters text into an EDIT file
ADD BLOCK
Enters blocks of text into an EDIT file
BREAK
Separates a text line into two or more lines
CHANGE
Changes a string or a column to a new string
DELETE
Removes lines from an EDIT file
EXIT
Closes the current EDIT file and stops EDIT
FIX
Modifies text lines or editor commands
GET
Makes an EDIT file the current EDIT file
IMAGE
Modifies a string to a new string
JOIN
Formats lines to a specified width
LIST
Displays lines to the terminal or other location
MOVE
Moves lines from one location to another
NUMBER
Renumbers lines
OBEY
Executes a file of editor commands
PUT
Puts lines into a new text file
QUERY
Displays the current settings of EDIT control options
REPLACE
Replaces a line of a file with a new line
REPLACE
BLOCK
Replaces blocks of text with new text
SET
Sets EDIT control options
TEDIT
Starts the TEDIT editing program
