4.2 TRACTOR HOOK UP
Change the tractor’s hydraulic filter after the first day or two of Seed Hawk operation, some
debris may have collected in the hydraulic system during manufacturing. Changing the filter
will remove this debris, and prevent it from damaging components on the seeder and tractor.
4.2.1 SHANK LIFT AND LOWER
Connect the 1/2” hydraulic lines to activate the shank lift and lower. The shank up line is
marked with a wide red band. The shank lock‐up ball valves must be open in order to lower
the shanks. Both are located at the back of the hydraulic manifold.
It is very important that the hydraulic fluid dump lines return UNRESTRICTED back to the
tractor hydraulic reservoir. There are male and female pioneer quick couplers with the balls
removed supplied with the Seed Hawk. Please use these sets of couplers for the case drains.
Any alterations or restrictions in this line will cause damage to the implement that will NOT be
covered by warranty.
NOTE: DO NOT TEE MANIFOLD AND FAN CASE DRAIN DUMP LINES TOGETHER UNLESS THIS
TAKES PLACE RIGHT AT TRACTOR RESERVOIR. DO NOT PLUG THIS DUMP LINE FOR STORAGE.
4.2.2 WING LIFT AND LOWER
Connect the other pair of 1/2” hydraulic lines to activate the wing lift and lower, and the
standby supply to the shank and wing cylinders. The manifold supply line is marked with a
narrow green band, and the return line is marked with a wide green band. This tractor lever is
locked in full pressure position while seeding.
4.2.3 CASE DRAIN(S)
Always connect the case drain line (yellow band) to return hydraulic fluid back to the tractor
reservoir. The case drain line is a 1/2” (13 mm) line from the hydraulic manifold. The case
drain line(s) MUST return to the tractor UNRESTRICTED. Failure to do so can cause damage to
the hydraulic cylinders or fan motor and will void Manufacturer’s Warranty. The case drain(s)
must be connected even when lowering the wings. Seed Hawk Inc. recommends that the case
drain(s) have their own port into the tractor’s reservoir.
NOTE: DO NOT PLUG THIS LINE FOR STORAGE; DAMAGE TO THE GAUGES AND MANIFOLD
MAY OCCUR
