Mixer Layers
A mixer Layer is made up of channels of the same
type—input channels, busses, and link controls.
Selecting a layer determines what kind of channels
are viewed and controlled. The Layers panel, next to
the master fader, is used to choose among them.
A Layer selector button contains small meters that
indicate the levels of the channels in each layer.
This is a quick way to determine if a channel—or
layer—is receiving audio. These meters also have
clip indicators.
Custom layers are user-defined combinations of
channels.
The number of active Channel layers is
determined by the size of the mixer, which is
set in the Mixer Settings page (Setup > Mixer
Settings > Mixer Configuration). Maximum mixer
size depends on your eMotion LV1 license (64, 32,
or 16 channels).
The selector button of an unavailable layer is
blank, as you can see in the 16-channel mixer
configuration on the left. Reducing mixer size
may limit the number of channels and busses
within a layer. Certain layers are not available in
smaller configurations.
Refer to Appendix A for details about mixer
configurations.
A Layer’s function and its position in the processing
chain determine which Layer Modes are available.
When a layer selection button is clicked, its layer
will return to the same mode as when previously
viewed.
