Repitch existing durations with Step-Time
If you’re happy with your rhythmic durations, and only want to replace the pitch, you can use step-time for this . Place
the cursor at the start of the notes you wish to repitch, then go into Step-Time mode . Use any of the note entry methods
above to replace the pitches (e .g . MIDI keyboard, onscreen keyboard, QWERTY pitches) . When you’ve finished, exit Step-
time . You can skip over rests using the left and right arrow keys .
(You can also change the durations without changing the pitch too! Make a selection of notes, then hit equals followed
by the shortcut of the duration you want . So to change a group of eighth notes and rests to sixteenth notes, make a
selection, then = s )
Exit Step-Time
Whenever you want to end this mode of operation, press the Esc key or click the
button in the Transport .
