11. Communications Function

Tlie LI^'404 convener uses the HAR'l' protocol to iransmil digital sigtiaJs over the 4-20mA

output line. The AFlOO hand-held terminal is used to communicate with (he [,F404 using the

HART protocol. You can cheek or change configuration parameters, calibrate I lie flowmeter

or monitor the flowmeter measuring value from a remote place.

11*1 Connections with the AFlOO Terminal

Connect the probe cable of the AF1 DO terminal iu parallel wnth the load resistance w'hich is

v-nred from the current output terminals (+ and -), Use points such as pins of terminal board

or junction terminal to connect with the dip of the probe. See Figure 11.1 To connect the

AFlOO directly to the flowmeter, use the terminals + and - Sec Figure 11,2. These current

output terminals are polarized (positive and negative) but you can connect ihe probe to these

terminals without considering their polarity.
