7 Maintenance
WARNING
Risk of hand injury.
Moving parts e.g. pulley or a belt can cause serious hand injuries.
u Do not open or remove covers which are not described in this manual.
u Switch of the device before opening covers.
7.1 Maintenance plan
The frequency of the maintenance activities depends on the nature of the appli­
cation (the solvents used, the quantity of the mobile phase delivered by the
pump, the level of cleanliness of the facility, etc...).
Operation Frequency
General
Verify the cleanliness of all liquid bot­
tles. Daily
Check the suitable tightening of fittings
and the proper state of tubing (not
bended). Weekly (or when inaccuracy flow rates,
solvents leaks or air bubbles are ob­
served)
Clean the injection valves and all parts
in contact with solvents or samples
with suitable solutions. Rinse abun­
dantly using a mixing of water and al­
cohol. As often as possible (specially after
having pumped aqueous solvents or
strong buffers)
Check the tangential fans working to
maintain a good air recycling inside the
different modules. Monthly
Pump
Replace the tubing and associated fit­
tings. Yearly (or when damaged parts are ob­
served)
Clean and rinse the gradient valve with
suitable solution. As often as possible (specially after
having pumped aqueous solvents or
strong buffers)
Clean the check valves. Quarterly
Replace the check valves. Yearly (or when abnormal pressure/
flow rate fluctuation or noisy baseline
are observed)
Detector
UV Detector lamp replacement. When the efficiency of the lamp is un­
reliable
Clean the flow cell. Quarterly
