General Notes Before permanently mounting the GPS 2000/2100 system on your combine
or any other vehicle the user should test the system in the planned
installation location. Depending on what vehicle the user plans to mount the
system, turn on all accessories or features of the vehicle that use electrical
power, examples being lights, air-conditioning, etc. If the SNR drops below
8 or is lost completely, move the antenna to a location where the signal is
not as effected by the interference. Moving the antenna horizontally or
vertically between 1-3 feet will usually eliminate the problem.
NOTE: On combines such as the JD XX20 series, the antenna may need to
be mounted on the back of the grain tank. The reception problems occur due
to the location of the engine. Other models that have a side-mounted engine
may also experience reception problems. Ag Leader Technology provides a
25-ft antenna cable for these installations if needed, contact Technical
Support at (515) 232-5363 to get this cable if it was not included in your kit
already.
Parts, Tools for
Antenna
Installation You will need the following parts and tools to install the antenna and its
bracket:

L-bracket
•
5/16-inch self-tapping bolts or
5/16-inch bolts with serrated
nuts
•
Antenna
•
1/4-inch drill bit for thin metal or
9/32-inch for thicker metal
•
15-foot coaxial cable
•
Marker
•
Three small cable ties
•
Punch
•
Three white cable tie-downs
with self-tapping screws
•
Hand drill
Installing the
Antenna Bracket Follow these steps to attach the L-bracket to the grain tank or bin extension
(whichever is on your combine):
Step Action
1 Center the bracket on the combine or feeder house centerline.
2 Place the top surface of the bracket about 1/4-inch above the top of
the metal surface so that the antenna can slide off the bracket if it is
struck.
