5 The program now prompts the user to place the unit in LOAD MEM
mode. Press the SETUP key until LOAD MEM is above the F2 key.
Press F2.
6 The Save as… window is now visible. Depending on the type of
export, the program selects the proper file extension and stores the
file in a folder that is specific to the export format. Click OK if the
name is correct and the location for saving it is acceptable.
Note: The file extensions for exported data are as follows:
•
Advanced Ag Leader format = *.txt
•
GPS 2000/2100 Internal format = *.gps
7 The program now prompts the user to put the unit in the necessary
mode to transfer data.
If the user selected … Then …
AL2000 or INTERNAL format, Place the GPS 2000/2100 in
SEND MEM mode and press the
ENTER key.
HEXASCII format, Place the GPS 2000/2100 in
LOAD MEM mode and press
the ENTER key.
Result: The data stored in the GPS 2000/2100 is transferred from
the GPS 2000/2100 to the PC. Progress of the transfer is displayed
in the lower right-hand corner of the screen in the Progress box.
8 When the transfer is completed the GPS 2000/2100 will return to
standard mode. The GPS 2000/2100 Utilities program will return to
the Memory Utils window.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the user download data logged
with the GPS 2000/2100 in the following formats:
•
AL2000 format to make maps in current mapping software.
•
Internal format to make maps in future mapping software, reload into
the GPS, and to convert to other formats.
•
HEXASCII format (not to make maps) to reload back into the unit at a
later date.
NOTE: The INTERNAL format is the most versatile, as the AL2000
and the HEXASCII formats are unable to be converted to any other
format.
This will insure that the user has all necessary data for use with future
software products and updates to the GPS 2000/2100 programming.
