Answer
Possible Reasons
The Next Step
Yes, amber
A temperature violation may have
occurred, causing a thermal shutdown.
The system may be trapped in reset.
A system interconnect problem exists.
The system interconnect LED indicators have
power connected and can be used for further
diagnosis.
Go to Table E-5.
Yes, green
If the system LED is green, and the
power supply LED is amber:
■
A power supply problem may
exist. The power supply may not
be connected or inserted properly,
may have a damaged connector,
or it may have failed.
■
The power supply backplane may
need to be replaced.
■
Nonvolatile RAM (NVRAM) may be
corrupted.
■
The system ROM may be
corrupted.
If system LED is on then you may assume that
the following is true:
■
AC power is connected to the power
supply and providing adequate power.
■
The power supply 14 pin signal header
cable is connected properly.
■
The cable connection between the
system and backplane is good.
■
The connection between the system
board and power switch is good.
1.
Verify installation of the power supplies
and check all connections.
2.
You may try clearing NVRAM. If it is
necessary to clear NVRAM, see
Appendix D for the correct switch setting
and procedure.
3.
You may try performing ROMPaq
disaster recovery to replace a corrupted
system ROM image. If it is necessary to
perform ROMPaq disaster recovery, see
Appendix D for the correct switch
settings.
Refer to the Compaq Servers
Troubleshooting Guide for procedures on
ROMPaq disaster recovery.
4.
If these steps do not solve the problem,
contact your Compaq authorized service
provider for assistance.
Important: Slots one and two in memory bank one must be populated when performing ROMPaq disaster
recovery.
