Multiple Ways of Viewing the Log
You can view an event in the IML in four ways:
■ From the Integrated Management Display (IMD)
■ From within Compaq Insight Manager
■ From within Compaq Survey Utility
■ From online operating system utilities
NOTE: You can only view the event list on the IMD; you cannot print it. Also, events are
shown in a shorter form on the display than in Compaq Insight Manager.
Integrated Management Display
The Compaq Integrated Management Display (IMD) is an integrated 16x4
character display mounted on the front of the server. This display provides
easy-to-use, menu-driven access to server information. The following sections
provide information on configuring, navigating, and using the IMD menus.
Configuring the Integrated Management Display
The IMD can be configured to display a variety of menus that you can
customize to meet your specific needs. This section describes how to configure
and customize the IMD.
Setting up with the ROM-Based Setup Utility
After installing the IMD hardware, use the ROM-Based Setup Utility located
on the Compaq SmartStart and Support Software CD to configure the IMD.
This version of the utility is the latest one that supports your new IMD.
NOTE: Some operating systems allow online IMD configuration. Refer to the SmartStart
and Support Software CD for more information. The Windows NT utility to set up the IMD
is called the Compaq IMD Utility.
