Operating System—Factory Installed
If you ordered your server with the operating system factory installed, your
server is preconfigured with your chosen operating system. Everything
required to install the operating system is already on the server but you will
still need to complete some configuration tasks. Refer to the Compaq Factory-
Installed Operating System Software User Guide for further instructions.
CAUTION: Use the SmartStart and Support Software CD as recovery software
only. Booting the server from the SmartStart and Support Software CD could
reconfigure the system and may result in all data on the server being erased.
1. Power on the server and follow the screen prompts.
2. Install the Compaq Server Management Agents for your operating
system. Refer to the Compaq Factory-Installed Operating System
Software User Guide for more information.
3. Verify that your server configuration is correct and back up your server.
IMPORTANT: Refer to the Compaq Factory-Installed Operating System Software User
Guide for any further post-installation tasks and special instructions.
4. Install any application software.
