Troubleshooting
This section contains descriptions of possible difficulties followed by
possible causes and suggestions for solutions.
The table below contains the troubleshooting guide for the HP e-
Commerce Traffic Director Server Appliance SA8200/SA8220, the
HP Traffic Director Server Appliance SA7200/SA7220.
Problem
Possible Cause
Solution
Cannot ping the VIP
Route role/protocol
configuration is
incorrect.
Ensure that the route role and protocol are set
correctly. Route role must be set to
“standalone” and protocol must be set to
“none.”
Cannot run the GUI
Administrative
interface
DNS name resolution is
incomplete.
To run the GUI, the
SA8220
must be able to
resolve its own hostname via DNS, both
forward and reverse. The client machine on
which the browser is running must also be able
to resolve its own hostname using DNS, both
forward and reverse.
GUI Administrative
interface
initialization fails
DNS name resolution is
incomplete.
The client machine's host name must be DNS-
resolvable by the
SA8220
. If DNS is not used,
use the
config sys hosts add
command
at the CLI to add the client's hostname to the
SA8220
's local host file. The
SA8220
also
needs to be added to the client machine's local
hosts file. For Windows* NT*, the hosts file is
located in
c:\winnt\System32\drivers\etc
directory. For Solaris*, edit the
/etc/
nsswitch.conf
to allow for local
resolution. For UNIX*, the hosts file is located
in /etc. The format of the entry is:
