Drive status reporting
Three status indicators (see
) display the drive operational status.

Status indicator
Description
Activity
This green status indicator is a “drive ready” indicator and
is on when the drive is idle.
Online
The green status indicator for this icon is controlled by the
disk drive. The status indicator will be off when:
•
There is no controller on the bus.
•
+5.1 VDC is not available.
•
The drive is not properly installed in the enclosure.
Fault
The amber status indicator flashes in synchronization with
the other two status indicators in response to the EMU
locate command. Depending on the host controller, the
indicator for this icon can flash when the controller detects
an error condition.
Drive status displays
The two green and one amber LEDs are either on, off, or flashing. In some configurations, the host
controller can control the status LEDs. The operational drive LED status displays are shown in
