Removing a Tier CPG from an AO Configuration

To remove a tier CPG from an AO Configuration:
1.

Set the growth warning limit of the CPG to 1 MiB. (Do not set it to 0 as this will disable the
warning limit.) If you remove a CPG (tier) from an AO configuration without first making sure
that all the data from the tier is moved to other tiers, then that data remains on the CPG even
after the CPG is removed from the AO configuration. Therefore, you should move the data
on that CPG to other tiers before removed the tier CPG from the AO configuration. Setting
the growth warning limit to 1 MiB does this because the smallest region size is 32 MiB.

2.

Either start the AO configuration manually or wait for a scheduled run. Since the growth
warning limit is set to 1 MiB, when the configuration starts, it should move all the space out
of that CPG. If there is a large amount of space that needs to be moved, however, the Start
AO configuration procedure might need to be repeated several times until the CPG is empty.

3.

Once the CPG is empty, you can then remove the CPG from the AO Configuration by editing
the AO configuration. For more information, see

“Editing an AO Configuration” (page 193)
