How Remote Copy Tracks Synchronization Details
When a volume synchronization or resynchronization takes place on a system running under
Remote Copy, the system creates tasks to track the initial synchronization and the resynchronization
operations.
For example, when you use the startrcopygroup command to start (and synchronize) a Remote
Copy volume group for the first time, the system creates a task for each primary volume group that
is being started and synchronized in order to track the initial synchronization of the primary and
secondary volume groups.
Tracking Synchronous Volume Groups
For synchronous mode volume groups, the startrcopygroup command prompts resynchronization
each time it is used.
Tracking Asynchronous Periodic Volume Groups
For asynchronous periodic mode volume groups, the startrcopygroup command starts
synchronization only the first time the command is issued for a volume group. Subsequent instances
of the command do not initiate resynchronizations of asynchronous periodic mode volume groups.
