Setup Instructions and Resources
Depending on your comfort level and familiarity with HP 3PAR Remote Copy Software, use the
following resources to help you set up your Remote Copy system:
If you are setting up Remote Copy for the first time, you can: New User

Follow the setup steps, as relevant to your Remote Copy system, in each chapter of “Setting
the Foundation for Remote Copy” (page 12) , and “Setting Up the Remote Copy Servers”
(page 42) , of this User’s Guide.
• Use the Remote Copy Setup wizard in the HP 3PAR InForm Management Console.
If you are familiar with Remote Copy setup, you can use the Setup Tool appropriate for your
Remote Copy transport layer: Established User

Remote Copy System Locations
The backup storage system(s) can reside at the same location as the primary storage system, or
the backup system(s) can reside at a remote location.
To help ensure that disaster recovery operations are successful, at least one backup system should
reside at a location remote from the primary system.
