Configuring static MAC addresses

The portnum variable specifies the Ethernet port or ports that the MAC address is being assigned
to.
Use the to ethernet portnum option if you want to assign the MAC address to a range of ports.
Using the priority option, you can assign a value to the number variable of 0 – 7.
Displaying mac addresses
You can display all MAC addresses learned or configured on a Virtual ADXas shown in the following.
Virtual ADX(config)# show mac-address
Total static entries from all ports = 1

Syntax: show mac-address [ethernet portnum | mac address mac-address | vlan vlan-number]
The ethernet portnum option allows you to specify a port that you want to display the MAC address
for.
The mac address mac-address option allows you to check if a specified MAC address has been
learned or created.
The vlan vlan-number option allows you to specify a VLAN that you want to display the MAC
addresses for.

Total static entries
from all ports
The total numb of different MAC addresses learned on different ports.
MAC Address
The MAC address of the port
Port
The port that the MAC address is learned or created on.
Age
The age of the MAC address .A value is only shown if the system has been
configured for software-based aging.
Where a Virtual ADX is conigured in the for HW- based aging (default) “HW” will
be displayed. This is because the actual age is not available for display with
HW- based aging
This field is only valid for dynamic MAC addresses.
Type
The property of the MAC address.
DMA Valid Flags
DMA Flags (if any) programmed in L2 tables.
VLAN
The VLAN that the MAC address entry was learned on.
