Operation

General Information

Sharing vs. Preemption

Each control panel can be configured to share or not to share channels with other control
panels.

Each control panel is configured with a priority level for access non-shared access. Panels with
higher priority can preempt panels with lower priority and thereby gain access to the channel.

If your panel is configured for sharing, it will attempt to share a channel that is already in use. If
the channel is controlled by a panel that does not share and that has a higher priority than yours
has, the sharing attempt will fail.

If the sharing attempt succeeds, the panel operates normally. If it fails, you will be notified.

If your panel is not configured for sharing, when it attempts to acquire a channel, it can preempt
the other panel if yours has a higher priority. You will be asked for permission to preempt the
other panel. If the other panel has higher priority, the attempt to acquire the channel will fail
and you will be notified.
