Setting the Flash
You can set the flash when you are shooting still images.
1. Display the flash menu.
In recording mode, move the OK ( ) button left.
2. Set the flash.
Move the OK ( ) button left or right to select [FLASH] and then press
the OK ( ) button.

The flash fires twice and the shot is

Use this mode to reduce the red-eye
effect (
p.156) when you are
photographing people or animals.
Works best when the subject is
looking directly at the camera and is
relatively close.

FLASH
The flash fires for every shot.
Used for backlit shots and shots
taken under artificial lighting
(fluorescent lights, etc.).
AUTO, NIGHT
SCENE,
SNOW&BEACH
SUPPRESSED
FLASH
The flash does not fire.
Used for shots taken using indoor
lighting and where the subject is
beyond the effective range of the
flash, such as theater and sporting
events.
