Formatting the Hard Disk Drive or SD Card
Formatting initializes the hard disk drive or SD card. This process is
referred to as formatting (
p.156). Formatting completely erases all the
recorded images and albums created on the hard disk drive or SD card.
Preparation
Back up any important data ( p.139).
1. From the setup menu ( p.36), select [SYSTEM].
Use the jog dial to select [SYSTEM] and then press the OK ( ) button.
2. Select [FORMAT].
Use the jog dial to select [FORMAT] and then press the OK ( ) button.
IMPORTANT
Connect the AC adapter when formatting the hard disk drive or an SD
card.
Formatting also erases protected (
p.94) images. It also erases all
other data on the media. Always check carefully before formatting the
hard disk drive or an SD card.
Always format SD cards in the camera.
MEMO
A faulty SD card or hard disk drive cannot be formatted correctly.
You should periodically format the hard disk drive and your SD cards so
as to maintain a stable operating environment (
p.x).
