3-1-1-4 Device Information Box and Device View
The Device Information box and Device View are located in the upper section of the Identity pane (see Figure
3-5).
A storage partition administrator can view the Identity pane, but cannot change anything.

Device Information: Product name of the connected subsystem
•
Serial Number: Serial number of the connected subsystem
•
IP Address: IP address of the connected subsystem (SVP)
•
Device Name: Device name of the connected subsystem. This can be changed if you are in Modify mode.
This is a required field (maximum 180 alphanumeric characters).
Do not add a space before or after the device name or you will cause an error when you click the Apply
button. You may not use the following symbols: ", \, ;, :, ,, *, ?, <, >, |, /, ^, &, or %.
The device name is required to use SNMP Agent. Be sure to document the device name because the
settings are cleared if the SVP is replaced. For more information on SNMP, see Chapter 4.

Contact: Device support contact information, such as personnel and telephone number, where you can
inquire about the connected subsystem. You can change the contact information with the Modify mode. This
is a required field (maximum 180 alphanumeric characters). You may not use the following symbols: ", \,
;, :, ,, *, ?, <, >, |, /, ^, &, or %. For more information on SNMP, see Chapter 4.
The contact name is required to use SNMP Agent. Be sure to document the contact name because the

Device Location: Location of the connected subsystem. The XP Remote Web Console user can change the
device location when in Modify mode. This is a required field (maximum 180 alphanumeric characters).

SNMP, see Chapter 4.

Firmware Version Main: Version of the microcode installed in the connected subsystem.

Firmware Version SVP: Version of the XP Remote Web Console Java™ applet program installed in the SVP
of the connected subsystem.

Firmware Version Server: Version of the RMI™ server installed in the SVP of the connected subsystem.
•
Device View: Product name and visual image (picture) of the connected subsystem.
