2-4-1 Restriction on Accessing Local Client Files
Java™ applets have a security feature that prohibits a user from accessing local client files for operations within
the Java™ applet sandbox. However, this security restriction can be lifted to provide access to local files from XP
Remote Web Console because the XP Remote Web Console Java™ applet has an electronic signature. Figure
2-8 illustrates Java™ applet security.

When you start the Java applet with the electronic signature (XP Remote Web Console), the Warning - Security
pane ( Figure 2-9 ) appears.

• Yes allows you to access local files from the Java applet. For example, you can use Configuration File
Loader and Continuous Access XP’s snapshot function to install multiple XP Remote Web Console options at
a time using a license key file.
• No prohibits you from logging on to XP Remote Web Console.
• Always allow you to access local files every time you launch XP Remote Web Console. If you select this
option, you will not see the Security pane again.
