Digital sensors

General

Up to four digital sensors - mechanical switches or active devices - may be connected to the panel mount
version of a Chatter™ Data Logger.

The common side of the digital sensors are connected to either the terminal marked GND or the terminal
marked 3V6-A depending on the type of digital sensor used.

The other side of the digital sensor is connected to one of the terminals DI 1, DI 2, DI 3 or DI 4

Mode

Normal state, no alarm or event

Active state, alarm or event

Normally open, a
floating input is the
normal state, an
input connected to
GND generates an
event or alarm.

Normally closed, an
input connected to
GND is the normal
state, a floating
input generates an
event or alarm.

Active high, a
voltage less than 2 V
relative to GND is
the normal state, a
voltage between 2 V
and 5 V relative to
GND generates an
event or alarm.

Active low, a voltage
greater than 2 V
relative to GND is
the normal state, a
voltage between 2 V
and 5 V relative to
GND generates an
event or alarm.

Active high, a
voltage less than 2 V
relative to GND is
the normal state, a
voltage between 2 V
and 5 V relative to
GND generates an
event or alarm.

The power supply
for the alarm switch
is provided by the
Chatter™ Data
Logger
