Chapter 4. ESCON Interface

4-6

707119-001

SNA node is challenged for an XID, the 8 character XID sequence will be matched to the
PUID definition, and the appropriate upstream host connection will be made. Each PUID
defined must be unique. Note that most 3270 controllers use ‘017’ for the first 3
characters, and can not be changed to use something else.

If there is no match for the XID sequence to a configured subchannel (and there was no
match of the downstream IP Address to a configured circuit), then the connection will be
disallowed.

Hint: If you wish to track dynamic connections by their PUID, you can make the PUID
part of the ID that you assign. For example you can use a name such as ‘Acct_01702951’.

Enable Checkbox: This checkbox indicates whether this definition is to be considered
an active connection or not. If the checkbox is not checked, the definition will be ignored,
and the status panels will not reflect that the definition exists. (Green status will reflect
that all of the “enabled” interfaces are up as they should be.)

Button Definitions

Return: Selecting this button will return you to the ‘Update ESCON CU’ panel.

Update: Selecting the ‘Update’ button will save any changes that you have made on this
