The configuration of the FEP-4600 can be broken down into two categories.
• Administrative configuration items
• Communications configurations (‘Connectivity’) items
Administrative configuration items include:
• Network options for management access
• Server options for passwords
• Logging options
• Managing of multiple configuration files
Communications configuration items include:
• Configuring all of the host communication options
• Configuring all of the static and dynamic downstream device communication
options
• Configure clustering if more than one FEP-4600 platform are to provide the
communication interfaces
• Configuring the Static Gateway Circuits that tie the host connections to the static
downstream devices
When Clustering more than one FEP-4600 together, you will need to establish the cluster
(and have all cluster members communicating with each other) before attempting to
create the Static Gateway Circuits. For the best results, it is recommended that you
perform the Communications portion of the configuration in the order shown above.
