When to Check Power Steering Fluid
It is not necessary lo regularly check power iteering fluid
unless you suspect lUera Is a leak in the system or
you hear an unusual noise. A fluid loss in this s-yatem
could indicate a probfem. Have Ihe system inspected
and repaired.
What to Use
To determine whal kind of fluid ю use, see Pari D:
Recommended Ru/ds and Lubricants on page 6- f 7.
Alirtrays use the proper fluid. Failure to uaa the proper
Sluid can cause leaks and damage hoses and saals.
How to Check Power Steering Fluid Windshield Washer Fluid
Turn (he key off, lei the engine compadinent cool down,
wipe Ihe cap and Ihe top of the reaervoir clean, than
unscrew Ihe cap and wipe the dipstick with a clean rag.
Replace the cap and compleiely Lighten Jt. Than
remove the cap again and look at the fluid fevel on the
dipslick.
Tha level should be at the COLD fill mark. If
necessary, add only enough fluid (o bring the level up to
the mark.
To prevent contamination of brake fluid, never check or
fill tha power steering reservoir with ihg brake master
cylinder cover off.
What to Use
When you need windshield washer fluid, be sure lo read
the manulacluriBr's instructions before use. 1f you will
be operating your vehicle m an area where Ihe
