Increasing Speed While Using Cruise
Control
Tiherfi are ! wd ways to go to a higher speed:
• Use the acceleralor pedal to gel to tho higher
speed. Press the set button at the end of the lever,
then reJease tha button and the
accelerator
pedaF. You'll now cmise at (he higher spaed.
• Moi^e the cruise switch irom on lo
resujtie/accElorale. Hold it there until you get up lo
the speed you want, and Then release the switch.
To increase your speed In vary small amounts,
move The switch to resume/accalerate briefty, Each
time you do this, your vehicle will go about
1 mph ( 1.6 km/h) faster
Reducing Speed While Ueing Cruise
Control
• Press and hold 1 hg sot button at the end of the
lever until you reach the lower speed you want, ihen
release h.
■ To slow down In very small amounts, press the sel
button bnetly. Each time you cto this, you'll go
about 1 mph ( 1.6 km/h) slower.
Passing Another Vehicle While Using
Cruise Control
Use The accelerator pedal lo increase your speed.
When you take your foot off lha pedal, your vehicle will
slow down to the cruise conirol speed you sel earlier.
Using Cruise Control on Hills
How well your cruise control will work on hills depends
upon your speed, load and the steepness of ihe
hills When going up steep hills, you may went to step
on the accelerator pedal to maintain your speed.
When going downhilf, you may have (o braJte or shift to
a lower gear to keep your speed down. Of course,
applying (ho brake lakes you out of cruise control. Many
drivers find this to be loo much Eroubla and don't use
cruise control on steep hills.
Ending Cruise Control
There are two ways to turn off the cruise control:
■ Slep lighlly on Ihe brake pedal,
• or move Ihe cruiso control switch to off.
Erasing Speed Memory
Whan yob turn off the cruise control or the ignition, your
cruise oonlrol set speed memcry is erased.
