2.3 Services and Monitoring
2.3.1 Service Account Permissions
Some services need to run as an Administrator user. A local or domain account may be used so
long as it has local Administrator rights. If the user account has insufficient rights, the service will
fail to load with the error “Bad open ring 0 / kernel mode driver.”
Should the service account’s password change, the account is disabled, or the account is otherwise
unusable, the service will fail to load with the error:
“System.InvalidOperationException:
Cannot
start
service
mloader
on computer
'.'. >
System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The service did not start due to a logon failure.”
In the event this occurs, go to the Start Menu
⇨ Control Panel ⇨ Administrative Tools ⇨ Services.
Find the service, right click on it and click Properties, then go to the Log On tab. The account can
be verified and updated here. Reenter the password to ensure it is correct.
2.3.1.1 Service Account Printers
Some NET SatisFAXtion modules make use of printers (notably 2.5.5 Autoprint and 2.11 Scanner /
MFP). The fax server will only see those printers configured for the service account and visible in the
account’s Printers and Faxes folder.
2.3.2 NET SatisFAXtion Service
Service Name: NET SatisFAXtion (mloader) must run as an Administrator user.
2.3.2.1 Starting and Stopping NET SatisFAXtion
Manually starting and stopping the NET SatisFAXtion service is rarely needed because all configuration
utilities will restart the service if needed.
The easiest way to start and stop NET SatisFAXtion is via the LoaderConsole icons in the notification
area. Right click on the icon and choose Start to start the service or choose Stop to stop the service.
