Understanding MAC Interface Statistics
MAC interface statistics are displayed as part of the show interface cable
mac display, as shown in the previous section. Table 18-1 provides a
brief description for each MAC statistic.

In Octets Aggregate number of bytes received
on all upstream channels.
In Unicast Packets Aggregate number of unicast packets
received on all upstream channels.
In Multicast Packets Aggregate number of multicast
packets received on all upstream
channels.
In Broadcast Packets Aggregate number of broadcast
packets received on all upstream
channels.
In Errors Aggregate number of error packets
received on all upstream channels.
In Discards Aggregate number of discard packets
received on all upstream channels.
Out Octets Number of bytes transmitted from the
downstream channel.
Out Unicast Packets Displays the number of unicast packets
transmitted from the downstream
channel.
