The size (MB) of the SAN API virtual disk. This size is independent of the
original size of any physical storage component or any logical unit (LU)
exposed by any storage system on the SAN.
SAN API Virtual Disk Size
Whenever VSM performs an operation that has to do with storage alloc-
ation, such as virtual disk creation or virtual disk expansion, the virtual
disk free capacity value of the relevant storage pool is evaluated against
three configurable levels: Warning, Guard, and Emergency. These
thresholds are configurable in terms of both percentage and absolute
capacity (GB). You can also set a capacity threshold per individual stor-
age pool.

A warning is added to the event log. This warning is repeated every five
minutes. VSM deletes PiTs maintained on mirror tasks on the virtual disk,
leaving only the most recent PiT and any PiTs that cannot be deleted be-
cause of snapshots using them.
Free Capacity Warning
Mirror tasks running on the virtual disk are broken. Migration tasks are
deleted. The oldest snapshot PiT on the virtual disk is deleted, unless there
is a snapshot using the PiT.
Free Capacity Guard
The snapshot service attempts to delete all PiTs on the virtual disk, begin-
ning with the oldest PiT, until it reaches a PiT that cannot be deleted be-
cause of a snapshot using the PiT.

Managing VSM server IP addresses
When you connect to a VSM server, IP addresses and SVSP domains to which you have previously
connected appear in the Connect to Domain and Connect to Server drop-down boxes in the Login
screen, for convenient selection. The VSM server IP addresses and their corresponding domain names
are editable. You can set the default IP address to which to connect and you can add and remove IP
addresses.
