Performing manual VSM server elections
The VSM client enables you to perform manual VSM server elections. An election examines the VSM
servers and determines which server should be deployed in active mode and which server should be
deployed in passive mode.
To perform a manual VSM server election:
1.
From the Tools menu, select Maintenance. The Maintenance dialog box appears.
2.
Select Force VSM Election. A confirmation dialog box appears.
3.
Click OK. The VSM server election is performed.
Performing manual VSM server failovers
The VSM client enables you to perform manual VSM server failovers. This operation forces the active
VSM server to be deployed in passive mode, and the passive VSM server to be deployed in active
mode.
To perform a manual VSM server failover:
1.
From the Tools menu, select Maintenance. The Maintenance dialog box appears.
2.
Select Failover VSM. A confirmation dialog box appears.
3.
Click OK. The active VSM server is deployed in passive mode, and the passive VSM server is
deployed in active mode.
Managing multiple domain access paths
The VSM client enables you to manage multiple domain access paths by deleting extraneous back-end
LU signatures. An access path is the connectivity path through which a VSM server can access a
back-end LU. Extraneous back-end LU signatures are back-end LU signatures from obsolete domains.
This feature enables other domains to access back-end LUs that belong to obsolete domains.
CAUTION:
Before you perform this operation, ensure that the deletion of extraneous back-end LU signatures will
not disrupt an operational domain. Perform this procedure only after consulting with HP services.
To manage a multiple domain access path:
1.
From the Tools menu, select Maintenance. The Maintenance dialog box appears.
