Removing host permissions

You can remove permission from a host that currently has permission to access the snapshot or VDG
snapshot.

CAUTION:

Removing host permissions removes access to the data contained within the snapshot or PiT. If done
without first dismounting the device or otherwise flushing the cache, the result may be data loss from
the cache.

NOTE:

This option is not available for a snapshot that belongs to a VDG or is the source element for any PiTs
or other snapshots.

To remove a host’s permission for a snapshot or VDG snapshot:

1.

Right-click the snapshot or VDG snapshot.

2.

Select Manage > Manage Permission > Remove Host Permission. The Remove Host Permission
wizard opens to the Select Host(s) screen.

3.

Select a host whose permission you want to remove.

4.

Click Add. The host you selected appears in the lower area of the screen. If you want to deselect
the host, select the host in the lower area, and click Remove.

5.

Click Next. A confirmation screen appears.

6.

Cick Finish. The host’s permission for the snapshot or VDG snapshot is removed.

Changing the LUN used to present a snapshot to hosts

If a snapshot is presented to UDH host(s), you can change the LUN that the DPM uses to expose the
snapshot to the host(s).

If you need to change the LUN used to expose a snapshot that belongs to a VDG, you need to enable
the viewing of VDG members in the snapshot list. To enable this option, select Options > General
from the Tools menu, select the Data Presentation tab, and check Show Virtual Disks/Snapshots in
VDG
.

To change the LUN:

1.

Right-click the snapshot for which you want to change the LUN used to present the snapshot to
the host.
