Removing host permissions from a group
To remove permissions from a host, delete the host. If a host fails and cannot recover, you can replace
the host by deleting the host and adding permission to a new host.
Changing the synchronous local mirror group mode
A sync mirror group can operate in either an Always Synchronized mode or Continue-on-Fail mode.
For a description of the two modes, see the explanation in “
can change a group’s mode under either of the following conditions:
•
When the group status is Failed, and there is no current synchronization of dirty regions in progress.
•
When the group status is Normal.
To change a group's mode:
1.
Right-click the group.
2.
Select Change Mode. The Change Mode screen appears.
3.
From the Mode dropdown box, select one of the following:
• Continue-on-Fail—If a task fails, the mirror service continues to service the application by using
other tasks if possible.
• Always synchronized—If a task fails, all tasks in the group are paused. Host applications
cannot use the group until a user resolves the problem.
4.
Click Next. A confirmation dialog appears.
5.
Click Finish. The sync mirror group mode changes to the new selection.
Resuming synchronous mirror groups
If a sync mirror group switches to Partial or Failed status, and you fix the problem, use the Resume
operation to recover the group.
•
When the status is Partial, the agent tries to detect the most updated virtual disk and all the tasks
are resynchronized to that virtual disk.
•
When the status is Failed, the host agent tries to resume the task(s) that failed and, when successful,
resumes all tasks.
•
The group status might change to Snap-sync until the process of resuming is complete. For a de-
scription of how to recover from failures, refer to the HP StorageWorks SAN Virtualization Services
Platform administrator guide.
To resume a group:
1.
Right-click the group.
2.
Click Resume. A confirmation screen appears.
3.
Click Finish. The agent running on the host tries to resume the group. Check the group state to
see if the group resumed successfully.
Resynchronizing synchronous mirror groups
If one of the tasks in a synchronous mirror group fails when a synchronous mirror group is running
in Continue-on-Fail mode, the other tasks continue and the group’s status changes to Journal. If you
succeed in fixing the cause of failure, you can trigger the group to try to recover the failed task, using
