Multi-hop EBGP interconnectivity
As shown in
, a VPN network involves AS 1 and AS 2. PE 3 and PE 4 are the autonomous
system boundary router (ASBR) for AS 1 and AS 2 respectively. PE 3 and PE 4 are interconnected through
the public network and treat each other as a P device.
Figure 75 Multi-hop EBGP interconnectivity
By using this method, only one MD needs to be established for all the ASs, and public network multicast
traffic between different ASs is transmitted within this MD.
Multicast VPN configuration task list
CAUTION:
When the system is operating in standard mode, a reserved VLAN must be configured if multicast VPN
will be configured. Otherwise, abnormality might occur in the system. After a reserved VLAN is
configured, any change to it will incur reconfiguration of the reserved VLAN. For more information about
the system operating mode, see
Fundamentals Configuration Guide. For more information about a
reserved VLAN, see
MPLS Configuration Guide and MPLS Command Reference.
Complete the following tasks to configure multicast VPN:
Task Remarks
Enabling IP multicast routing in a VPN instance

Configuring MD-VPN
Before you configure MD-VPN, complete the following tasks:
•
Configure any unicast routing protocol to provide intra-domain interoperability at the network layer.
•
Configure MPLS L3VPN.
