6.2 FAST Activation Procedure
6.2.1 FAST Activation via the Command Line Interface (CLI)

1. Before you contact Comtech EF Data to order FAST feature upgrades, find and write down the
serial number of the demodulator:
a. On the CLI Main Menu, type M to go to the Satellite Demodulator page
b. Type F to go to the Features page
The 9-digit Serial Number is shown on the Features page
Record the Serial Number: ______________________________________
2. See the installed features:
a. On the CLI Main Menu, type A to go to the Administration page
b. Type F to go to the Feature Configuration page
Options are shown as Available or Unavailable. You can buy any unavailable options as FAST
upgrades.
3. To order features, contact a Comtech EF Data sales representative during normal business
hours:
a. Give the unit Serial Number to the representative
b. Identify and buy the desired FAST option(s)
c. Get the invoice, the 20-digit FAST Access Code(s), and the FAST option activation
instructions
4. Enter the FAST access code(s):
a. On the CLI Main Menu, type A to go to the Administration page
b. Type F to go to the Feature Configuration page
c. Type Y to select the FAST Feature Code
d. At the prompt, enter the 20-character FAST access code
The CLI responds with
Fast Feature Code is Accepted. Press Any Key to Continue.
5. Reboot the unit:
a. On the CLI Main Menu, type O to go to the Operations and Maintainenance page
b. Type R to Reset (reboot) the unit
6. After the unit has rebooted, examine the installed features to make sure that the FAST Upgrade
completed successfully:
a. Repeat Step 2; the feature just added during the FAST Upgrade should now show the
Available status.
b. If the feature is Unavailable, repeat the FAST Access Code entry procedure.
c. If the error persists, contact Comtech EF Data Product Support for help.
