5.3.2 Downloading and E xtracting the Firmware Update
1. Download the correct firmware archive file to the user PC temporary folder.
a. Go to www.comtechefdata.com .
b. Go to Home | Support | Software Downloads | Flash & Software Update Files
c. On the Flash & Software Update Files page, click Satellite Modems
d. Click the applicable product hyperlink.
e. Refer to Table 5-2 for information about the firmware download hyperlinks, archive files
and download image files.
f. Click the correct firmware EXE or ZIP download hyperlink (without 3xDES), or contact
CEFD Product Support to get the firmware with 3xDES.
g. Download the archive file to the temporary folder. The File Download window prompts
you to select Open or Save:
a. Click Open to allow the user-supplied utility program to control the file extraction
process
1. Make sure to extract the firmware files to the temporary folder created
earlier
b. Click Save to open the Save As window
1. Make sure to select the archive *.exe or *.zip file and Save it to the
temporary folder created earlier
c. Otherwise, click Cancel to quit the file download process
2. If necessary, extract the firmware files from the downloaded *.exe or *.zip archive file. Extract the
firmware files from the archive file with the user-supplied utility program. Extract a minimum of
three files.
In these file names, an asterisk * is a substitute for the revision letter of the image file:
•
Without 3xDES:
a. FW-0020894*.bin (Ver. 1.3.1 and earlier)
b. CDD 56xA/L X.X.X Release Notes.pdf (or a variation of this filename)
c. CDD 56xA/L X.X.X Upgrade (or a variation of this filename) – Installation notes
•
With 3xDES:
a. FW-0020895*.bin (Ver. 1.3.1 and earlier)
b. CDD 56xA/L X.X.X Release Notes.pdf (or a variation of this filename)
c. CDD 56xA/L X.X.X Upgrade (or a variation of this filename) – Installation notes
3. Make sure the firmware files were extracted correctly to the temporary folder. Use one of these
methods to see the temporary folder’s contents.
• From the Windows Desktop:
a. Double-click the temporary folder that was saved to the Windows Desktop
b. Or, use Windows Explorer to find the temporary folder
i. Double-click the temporary folder
