Fabricating an ODM-840 Ethernet Cable
To fabricate a field‐installable Ethernet cable for use with the ODM‐840 Outdoor Remote
Router, use the CN/RJF‐6B connector provided in kit KT‐0000263 or KT‐0020566.
Refer to Figure 3‐17 and follow these steps:
Step
Task
1
Thread the user‐supplied RJ‐45 cordset (Item 1) through the Item 2 components. Be
sure to note the order and orientation of all components prior to final assembly of
the connector.
2
Assemble the connector insulator insert halves (Item 2.4) to the RJ‐45 cordset plug:
• Depress the RJ‐45 cordset plug tab and slip one half of the insulator insert
onto the RJ‐45 plug.
• Assemble the other half of the insulator insert onto the RJ‐45 plug.
• Snap the insulator lock tab into place to complete the insulator assembly.
3
At the front, seat the insulated RJ‐45 plug assembly into the circular connector sleeve
(Item 2.5) – note the sleeve’s main key orientation as shown in the figure must
conform to the Amphenal ‘Code A’ orientation specification – and then thread the
assembly onto the connector body (Item 2.3)
4
Use the jam nut (part of Item 2.3) to secure the circular connector sleeve and
insulated plug assembly (in its correct orientation) to the connector body. DO NOT
OVERTIGHTEN.
5
At the back, slip the compression bushing (Item 2.2) into the connector body, and
then screw the end cap (Item 2.1) onto the connector body. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.
