Kinetix 5500 Safe Torque-off - Hardwired Safety
This chapter introduces you to how the hardwired safe torque-off feature meets
the requirements of Performance Level d (PLd), Category 3 according to
EN ISO 13849, and SIL CL2 according to IEC 61508, EN 61800-5-2, and
EN 62061.
The 2198-H
xxx-ERS servo drives use the safe torque-off (STO) connector for
cascading hardwired safety connections from drive-to-drive.
Certification
The TÜV Rheinland group has approved the 2198-H
xxx-ERS servo drives with
hardwired safe torque-off for use in safety-related applications up to PLd,
Category 3 according to EN ISO 13849 and SIL CL2 according to IEC 61508,
EN 61800-5-2, and EN 62061, in which removing the motion producing power
is considered to be the safe state.
Refer to Appendix E on
for these certification documents.
• EC Type - Examination Certificate
• EC Declaration of Conformity
• European Union Directives
Important Safety Considerations
The system user is responsible for the following:
• Validation of any sensors or actuators connected to the system
• Completing a machine-level risk assessment
• Certification of the machine to the desired EN ISO 13849 performance
level or EN 62061 SIL level
• Project management and proof testing
