7 Commissioning
Warning
Ensure the following in the movement area around the linear axis
•
nobody can place his/her hand in the path of the moving parts (e.g. by
providing a protective crate)
•
there are no objects obstructing the positioning path.
It should not be possible to touch the linear axis until all moving parts have
come to a complete standstill and the power supply has been switched off.
Warning
Carry out the initial commissioning of the drive system with reference travel
and low speeds, masses and forces. This prevents uncontrolled movements.
Low speeds are specified as the basic setting with the reference travel on the
controller.
Note
Movements against the end stop can damage mechanical components and
connections.

For special applications reference travel can be made against external
fixed stops. The maximum permitted forces and torques must be observed
here (see "Technical data").

Read the warnings and instructions in the description of the controller.
Complete the commissioning using the Festo Configuration Tool (FCT) and its
help system on your PC. Please check the following points in particular:
•
Parametrisation
•
Software end positions
•
Homing
