5.3 Air conditioning and pressure monitoring
Caution
To prevent material damage to the linear axis, the supplied compressed air
must fulfil the following criteria:
•
The compressed air must have a rated pressure corresponding to the
technical data.
•
The compressed air has to be free of water, oil and contamination. The
compressed air preparation must therefore be equipped with a fine filter
(1 m) and, if necessary, with a condensate separator.
•
If there is a danger that the compressed air contains oil, then we recom-
mend the use of an oil separator.
Please note that even a momentary supply of unfiltered air is not acceptable,
since otherwise the air cushion bearings or the filters in the nozzle bodies will
be contaminated. The appropriate service unit can be ordered via Festo (see
Accessories).
If the motor is operated without compressed air monitoring, it is vital you ob-
serve the minimum working air pressure, since the motor could otherwise be
damaged or the correct functioning adversely affected.
