What are the HP Neoview Performance Analysis Tools?
The Neoview Performance Analysis Tools provide insight into queries running on the Neoview
data warehousing platform.
Prior to Neoview Release 2.3 SP3, this product was known as Neoview Performance Analyzer.
In Neoview Release 2.3 SP3 and following releases, Neoview Performance Analyzer is one of
three components of the Neoview Performance Analysis Tools (NPA Tools). NPA Tools contains
these components:
• Neoview Performance Analyzer — Provides graphical representation of system metrics
and query metrics. Neoview Performance Analyzer enables DBAs to troubleshoot
query-related issues by its use of reactive and/or retrospective analysis. The Neoview
Performance Analyzer offers charting with drill-down capabilities as well as query analytics.
Queries can be isolated within the graphs and reworked to improve performance. Information
presented in graph and grid form can be exported into a Windows clipboard or application,
such as PowerPoint, Word, or Excel. Neoview Performance Analyzer is composed of these
tabbed tools:
— Neoview — Allows you to define which system metrics and workload metrics you
want to display in the workspace content area. Through the use of views, you can switch
between different layout types and make performance decisions on the resource usage
of the system and the areas and workload that need to be investigated and optimized.

— Live View — Provides live operational view of queries running on the Neoview
platform—same as standalone tool Neoview Query Viewer. Live View uses data from
Neoview Workload Management Services (WMS). For a sample screen, see

— Triage Space — Provides historical data that has been fetched from the repository. For
a sample screen, see “The Triage Space At a Glance” (page 77) .
— Query Workbench — Provides query analysis and execution capabilities—same as
standalone tool Neoview Query Workbench. For a sample screen, see “The Query
Workbench At a Glance” (page 89) .
