WIDTH
Function
Sets the width of the printed label. Typically, this
command is for printing on label stock that is
narrower than the printhead.
Explicit Form
WIDTH nnn
Parameters
W nnn
Approximate print width in hundredths
of an inch.
Comments
Since data is handled in whole words, any value
specified for the WIDTH results in an actual print
width that can be expressed in 16 bits. The printer
will round up any width value to the nearest
whole word. This means that when using a print
pitch of 200, the width value is rounded up to the
nearest number that is evenly divisible by 8. When
using a print pitch of 100, the width value is
rounded up to the nearest number evenly divisible
by 16.
If you do not use the WIDTH command, the printer
will default to its maximum print width unless the
default width has been changed by a VARIABLE
WIDTH
command.
Reducing width lets you program longer labels in a
given memory area. It can also simplify graphics
programming by reducing the number of dot
columns you need to program.
When reducing width, Code Courier printers move
the label against the left edge of the label stock as
it exits the printer. Barcode Blaster, Blaster
Advantage, and Solus printers move the label
against the right edge of the label as it exits the
printer.
