Conversion factors are entered in scien-
tific notation, a method of expressing a
number as a value from 0.1 to 1 (called
the mantissa), multiplied by a power of 10
(the exponent).
1.
When you access the Custom Unit
parameter, the display will show “EPt”
for exponent.
2.
Press
ENTER
to display the current
exponent.
3.
Use the numeric keypad to enter the
desired exponent. It must be an inte-
ger value (no decimals) from -15 to
+15.
To enter a negative exponent, enter
the number first, then press
FNCT
,
then
CLER
. The minus sign will light
to indicate the number is negative.
4.
Press
ENTER

5.
Press
DOWN
to scroll to the Man-
tissa entry (display will show “NtS”).
6.
Press
ENTER
to display the current
mantissa.
7.
Use the numeric keypad to enter the
desired number from 0.1 to 1.

to scroll to “End”.
10. Press
ENTER

to exit the Custom Unit parameter
and return to the scale submenu.
