About the behavior of automatic and fixed primary events
Primary events can be configured as automatic or fixed depending on the Time Mode
selection when they were added to the schedule. The Time Mode contains four modes, two
of which are automatic and two are fixed:
• Auto/Follow On: the event starts to play immediately after the previous primary event
ends.
• Manual Hold: the event remains on hold until an operator manually clicks the Take
Next button in the Channel Control page when the channel is live.
• Fixed Manual: the event is inserted at a specified date and time and placed on hold
until an operator manually clicks the Take Next button in the Channel Control page
when the channel is live.
• Fixed/True Time: the event starts to play at a specified date and time.
Primary events configured as Auto/Follow On or Manual Hold are considered automatic
events since they do not have a date and time set for when they should play. They follow
the primary event immediately before it in the schedule. As a result, the start time
automatically adjusts according to any changes to the previous primary event’s time or
duration. If no primary event already exists in the schedule, the event’s start time is
converted to a Fixed/True Time start time.
Fixed primary events, meaning those configured with the Fixed Manual or Fixed/True Time
mode, have a scheduled time to go on air. They play at their configured date and time
Note:
If the Start of Media (SOM) and End of Media (EOM) were provided
when the asset was registered, the timecode entered as the In Point or Out
Point is validated against the SOM or EOM timecode to ensure that it is within
the valid range of the media. When an invalid timecode is entered, the field
will be highlighted in red and you will not be able to save the change to the
event. If the SOM and EOM were not registered, no validation is performed.
Note:
The proxy media file in the Proxy tab is not guaranteed to be frame
accurate.
