13 – Other functions

Flash start function

Use the flash start function to instantly start playback of

takes that have been designated in advance.

A maximum of 100 takes can be started instantly using a

keyboard or an external device connected to one of the

unit’s remote connectors (REMOTE and PARALLEL).

Setting the flash key function

1. Press the MENU key on the front panel to open the

MENU

screen.

2. Touch the

REMOTE SETUP

button to open the

REMOTE SETUP

screen.

On the GENERAL page, set what happens when a

flash start key is pressed, and set the fader functions

when using a TASCAM RC-HS32PD/RC-HS20PD remote

controller (sold separately).

Selecting the flash page

1. In take mode, select the session that you want to play

back. (See “Loading sessions” on page 43.)

In playlist mode, select a playlist. (See “Loading

playlists” on page 83.)

2. After touching the flash page operation/display knob

on the Home Screen, use the DATA dial to select the

page that contains the files or entries that you want to

play.

The first 96 (RC-HS32PD) or 100 (RC-HS20PD)

numbered takes or entries in the selected session or

playlist can be played back using flash start.

3. Press a flash start key to immediately start playback of

the take or entry that corresponds to that key.

NOTE

When using a TASCAM RC–HS32PD remote controller

(sold separately), file names (or the first parts of long

file names) appear on the keys, making it easy to check

the files.

When using a TASCAM RC-SS20 remote controller (sold

separately), you can flash start the first 20 numbered

takes or entries.

When using a computer keyboard, you can flash start

the first 12 numbered takes or entries.

Flash start playback

When the Flash Start Key Method is set to Flash Start,

touching a flash start key causes the corresponding take

or file to start playback instantly.
