Chapter 1. INTRODUCTION
1.1
Overview
Comtech EF Data’s LBC‐4000 L‐Band Up/Down Converter System with Ethernet (Figure 1‐1) is
designed to interface legacy 70 MHz or 140 MHz equipment to tri‐band or quad‐band block
converters.

Features
Figure 1‐2 shows the front and rear panels of the LBC‐4000. The LBC‐4000 is a 1RU‐high, 19‐inch
wide chassis (Figure 1‐3) that is designed for mounting into a standard 19‐inch equipment rack.
The front panel handles allow quick installation into and removal of the unit from the
equipment rack. The unit may also be freestanding if desired.
The LBC‐4000 drop‐down front panel provides access to the ON/OFF switch and bays for two
upconverter modules, or two downconverter modules, or one of each.
All operator controls, indicators and displays are located on the LBC‐4000 front panel.
External interface connectors, including those intended for Ethernet or serial remote Monitor
and Control (M&C), are located on the LBC‐4000 rear panel.
