This section introduces you to the operation of the 790 Personal IC by
means of a brief operating tutorial which describes the basic operat-
ing steps needed for the recording of an ion chromatogram using one
of the system files supplied.
The determination of the cationic content of a drinking water sample
with the METROSEP Cation 1-2 column is used as an illustrative
example. Please note that the steps and parameter settings de-
scribed apply only to this example. If you use a different separating
column and system file, the procedures described in the tutorial must
be modified appropriately.
For further explanations of the operation, please refer to section 4.
3.1 Requirements
For the determination of cations in drinking water described in this tuto-
rial, the following instruments, accessories and solutions are required:
• 2.790.0010 Personal IC
(or 2.790.0020 Personal IC without connection
of suppressor module)
• 6.1825.230 Sample loop (10 µµµµL, PEEK)
already integrated in the 2.790.0010 Personal IC
• 6.1006.100 IC cation column
