2. Connect the other end of the cable to an RS-232 port on a terminal or
a personal computer with a terminal emulation program.
3. Set the terminal or terminal emulation program to the following
defaults:
ˆ Baud rate: 115200 bps
ˆ Data bits: 8
ˆ Parity: None
ˆ Stop bits: 1
ˆ Flow control: None

The settings are for a DEC VT100 or ANSI terminal, or an equivalent
terminal emulation program.
The software initializes and then the login prompt is displayed.
4. When prompted, enter a username and password.
ˆ To configure the chassis settings, enter “manager” as the
username. The default password for manager access is “friend”.
ˆ To just view the settings, enter “operator” as the username. The
default password for operator access is “operator”.
ˆ Usernames and passwords are case-sensitive.
The Main Menu is displayed, as shown in Figure 46.
