Batt ery Transportati on
Rechargeable lithium batt eries are subject to special regulati on by U.S. and
Internati onal laws, parti cularly regarding transportati on on passenger aircraft .
However, individual batt eries installed in consumer electronics are not restricted,
provided there are only the correct numbers and types of batt eries as may be needed
to operate the electronic equipment.
Your Tempest Wireless Intercom System includes rechargeable lithium-polymer batt eries that power the BeltStati ons. To
ensure that there is no violati on of U.S. or Internati onal laws, and to ensure your own safety, always:
•
Transport rechargeable lithium batt eries installed in the equipment they are intended to power.
•
Transport spare batt eries in a padded case, separated from one another.
•
Never transport your rechargeable lithium batt eries bundled together.
•
Never transport more than 12 lithium batt eries in a single package.
Lithium-polymer batt eries include a chemistry that is intended to overcome the dangers associated with lithium ion
batt eries. In additi on, the batt eries that accompany your Tempest Wireless system include protecti ve circuits to further
reduce the possibility of a dangerous reacti on associated with charging or discharging beyond safe limits. With reasonable
care you can expect many years of safe and reliable power from your batt eries.
Tempest batt eries are not subject to transport regulati ons of dangerous goods because they fulfi ll the following regulatory
provisions:
»
ADR 188
»
IATA A45
»
IMDG 188
Batt ery Storage
Long-term storage of batt eries at maximum charge can result in permanent loss of capacity.
For long term storage of batt eries, charge/discharge the batt eries to approximately 60% of capacity. Batt eries stored for
longer than one year should be recharged to 60% annually.
Trickle charging is not recommended due to the very low self discharge rate of the batt eries.
As with all batt eries:
•
Do not burn.
•
Do not expose batt eries to excessive heat such as sunshine, fi re or other heat sources.
•
CAUTION – Danger of explosion if batt ery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent type.
•
Properly dispose of used batt eries promptly.
•
Keep away from children.
