Set Display Mode to Stati c or Dynamic

The

Stati c

or

Dynamic

selecti on only aff ects the order that the BaseStati on LCD Operati onal screen displays BeltStati on

informati on. “Stati c” will be the preferred choice for users who want to ensure that a BeltStati on that is logged in will

always appear in the same locati on (slot) on the BaseStati on display and are using only one BaseStati on.

Dynamic

is the default setti ng.

Dynamic

display mode always displays BeltStati ons in alpha-numeric order by name, so “Dir”

appears before “LitMgr,” which appears before “StgMgr,”. BeltStati ons can change slots depending on which BeltStati ons

are logged in at any given moment. Empty slots are always on the right of the Operati on screen.

Dynamic

is the preferred

choice for users uti lizing iSelect roaming between multi ple BaseStati ons.

On the BaseStati on, under “Tech Menu,” in the “Display Slot Assignments” menu, choose

Stati c

or

Dynamic

.

When selecti ng

Stati c

slot assignments, you must also enter the “Base Slot” secti on of the “Tech Menu” on each BeltStati on

and assign each BeltStati on a diff erent slot (1 – 5). If you have a BeltStati on that displays the message “Slot Occupied,” it

means two or more BeltStati ons are assigned to the same slot number.

Name Each Stati on

Name the BaseStati on with a descripti ve name. This is especially helpful when iSelect Roaming will be used to roam

between BaseStati on coverage areas. It is also helpful when the BaseStati on or T-Desk is used to monitor and manage the

BeltStati ons. The BaseStati on name can include up to 14 characters. Prior to a name being assigned, a hexadecimal serial

number is displayed as a default.

The BaseStati on name will appear on the banner (top line of the BaseStati on display, with white-on-black lett ering), on the

BeltStati on display, and in the BeltStati on’s menu under “Select Base.”

The BeltStati on will accept 14 characters in the name, but only the fi rst six characters of the BeltStati on name can be

displayed on the BaseStati on Operati on screen. If the BeltStati on is named “Camera 1,” then “Camera” will be displayed on

the BaseStati on slot for that BeltStati on because of the six character limit. If the BaseStati on will be used to monitor and

manage the BeltStati ons, the BeltStati on name should be limited to six characters. To name each BaseStati on:

1. On the BaseStati on press MENU and select “BaseStati on Setti ngs,” then “Name BaseStati on.”

2. Rotate the Volume control to move the underscore “_” to select the character to be changed.

3. Press ENT and noti ce the underscore changes to a pointer “Λ” under the selected character.

4. Rotate the Volume control to scroll through the character list. Press ENT to select the new character. Characters always

replace and never insert. Repeat as needed.

5. Press ENT to save the new name aft er all characters are complete. Failure to press ENT to save will clear all changes.

6. Press MENU to escape to the Operati on Mode screen.

Naming the BeltStati on works the same as naming the BaseStati on. On the BeltStati on, press MENU and select “Belt

Setti ngs,” then “Name BeltStati on.” Use the Volume control and the ENT butt on to select and change characters. Press ENT

to save the changes.

BeltStati on names can be changed wirelessly from the BaseStati on’s menu or from T-Desk when the system is on a local

area network.

When operati ng in Shared Mode, the Tempest BaseStati on must be in Dynamic slot

assignment.
